Job summary

Wake Forest University is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform reactive and preventive work across campus facilities. You will be proficient in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, with a focus on reliability and safety.

The role requires a high school diploma with technical training and 5–10 years' related experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work with building management systems and diverse campus stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus specialized training with five to ten years related experience
  • Proficient knowledge and skills in preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and interiors
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record; must be insurable
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to use computer software and systems to monitor, interface, and troubleshoot systems
  • Ability to use an iPad or similar device to work with our Maintenance Management System
  • Heavy work with exposure to varying environments and safety hazards

Responsibilities

  • Repair electrical systems and install motors and belts; respond to electrical work requests
  • Unstop toilets, showers, sinks; repair valves, gaskets and lines; respond to plumbing requests
  • Maintain HVAC units; change filters, belts; operate building management systems
  • Perform carpentry repairs on doors, windows, walls, shelving
  • Patch, caulk, prime, stain and paint ceilings and walls
  • Serve as a general maintenance technician in assigned buildings and tasks
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse campus community
  • Perform other duties as assigned
