This position is located at the Kansas City International Airport Area. We are looking for a motivated, high-energy team member to join our Facilities Maintenance team.

Please note – successful candidates must have the ability to obtain SIDA clearance with the Kansas City Airport.

What you should know about the day-to-day:

Jet Midwest occupies the former TWA Overhaul Base facility just south of the Kansas City International Airport. The facility is leased from Kansas City, MO and we have responsibility for facilities management within the rental footprint, which includes the interior of the building excepting utility mains feeding the buildings. This includes the interior building systems such as the physical structure, electrical, mechanical/HVAC, plumbing, and finishes, as well as the parking lot. The maintenance of our facility presents unique challenges due to its history, size, situation, and current utilization as well as the resources available to Jet Midwest. The successful candidate will be comfortable with utilizing creativity to prioritize projects and expenditures as well as maintaining an outstanding relationship with the city, tenants, and sub-tenants to evaluate and prioritize projects that will require additional support and resources.

Additionally, Jet Midwest owns the majority of our equipment and tooling, which places responsibility for maintenance, repair, and replacement within the purview of the facilities department.

You will need to take ownership of daily tasks

  1. Ensure Jet Midwest facilities and equipment are maintained at a high level of operational readiness, safety, and comfort that reflects positively on JMW.
  2. Ensure internal customers receive top-notch support and assistance with maintenance tasks, as assigned.
  3. Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on the facility, ground support equipment, and company tooling, safety equipment, building systems, and other areas as needed/assigned.
  4. Operate motorized lift equipment such as scissor lift, forklift, aerial lift etc. to accomplish work tasks as required.
  5. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
  6. Some after-hours support on evenings and weekends will be required.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

You'll be building relationships through:

  1. Direct contact with internal and external team members.
  2. Vendor assistance and support as needed.
  3. Regular interaction with and support of team members at all levels of our organization.

We’d like to talk to you if you have 5-8 years of experience, training, and demonstrated performance in Commercial/Industrial building maintenance, including (but not limited to):

  • Electrical wiring installation and repairs (120V-240V).
  • Repair and replacement of restroom fixtures, hot water heaters, toilets, urinals and sinks.
  • HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs of general appliances.
  • Safety equipment maintenance and inspections such as eyewash stations.
  • Perform repairs using power tools, snakes/augers, pipe threader, or pro press tools.
  • Vehicle maintenance (such as ground support equipment, automotive maintenance, forklifts, etc).
  • Office furniture assembly, disassembly, and maintenance/repair.
  • Plumbing, including installation and repair of supply/drain pipes, valves and associated equipment.

We’ll be a great match for you if:

  • You have a high-energy personality and desire to learn and grow quickly.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • You are equally comfortable self-directing or working as part of a team to ensure tasks are completed.
  • You have experience working in an older facility.
  • You have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

We’re an even better match for you if you also:

  • Have experience performing systems maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
  • Have experience and knowledge of the following:
    • Steam heating systems.
    • Reading schematics, drawings, hydraulic and wiring diagrams.
