Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician I to perform skilled maintenance on interior and exterior facilities in Albuquerque, NM. You will handle construction, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and related tasks while following safety standards.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and several years of facility maintenance experience, plus the ability to read, write, and follow directions in English.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Three years of work experience as a general building maintenance technician or two years plus one year of education in building construction, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or related field.
• Ability to safely operate building maintenance hand tools, power tools and equipment.
• Basic understanding of mathematics, construction practices and building codes.
• Must be able to read and write in English and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Receives assigned work orders and prioritizes them with other tasks.
• Performs maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing and related duties per safety standards.
• Maintains tools and equipment and reports repairs as needed.
• Prepares material lists and purchase orders for work orders.
• Acts as a first responder to building maintenance emergencies and assists with larger projects.
