Job summary

The Town of West Hartford is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician I to perform cleaning and basic building maintenance for municipal facilities. The role supports heating, cooling, and related systems with a Monday–Friday schedule, which may shift to Tue–Sat based on operations.

Responsibilities include cleaning, trash disposal, minor repair tasks, and operation of boilers and HVAC equipment. A high school diploma or GED and CT driver’s license are required, with a pre-employment physical

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; valid CT driver's license.
• Knowledge of cleaning practices, building maintenance, and equipment operation.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions; perform semi-skilled maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum, mop floors and wash walls, windows, and woodwork.
• Dust, polish and move furniture; gather and dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Operate boilers, ventilation and air conditioning equipment as directed.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry maintenance.
• Move and set up equipment for events; replace failed windows and screens.
