Job summary

Village of Hanover Park is seeking a maintenance worker to perform building maintenance across municipal facilities, including the commuter train station. The role covers HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and custodial tasks with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualified candidates will have 1–2 years in general maintenance, a High School diploma or GED, and a valid Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Requires 1–2 years of general maintenance and repair experience including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work.
• Possession of a valid Class B Illinois CDL with Air Brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigeration Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance for municipal buildings and train station facilities, including cleaning and upkeep of restrooms, floors, doors, windows, and exteriors.
• Check mechanical systems (HVAC, generators, pumps, belts, coils) and perform basic maintenance and part replacements.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, and mechanical problems as they arise.
• Set up for events and handle related infrastructure tasks (tents, power, generator hookups, signage).
• Respond to safety regulations and maintain regular attendance; follow Village policies.
