Job summary

The Town of Gilbert is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to support maintenance across Town facilities, grounds and parks. You will install, inspect and repair electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues.

You will operate a range of equipment, manage work orders in Lucity, and be ready to respond to emergency calls. A valid AZ driver license and a pre-employment check are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of experience in building maintenance, equipment operation or related work.
• EPA Universal License may be required.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License required.
• Background check, physical and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Facilities Maintenance Technician I. The Facilities Maintenance Technician I reports to the Facilities Operations Superintendent and will work at Gilbert's new Advocacy Center. The primary functions of this position include:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems and equipment
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance across Town facilities, grounds, and parks — identifying issues early and coordinating repairs or replacements
• Operate and maintain a variety of medium and heavy equipment, utility vehicles, and specialized diagnostic tools
• Partner with contractors, vendors, and customers to resolve maintenance issues and coordinate resources
• Track and manage daily work orders through the Town's Lucity software system, and respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed

This is an FLSA Non-Exempt, at-will position with the Town of Gilbert.

You're a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in keeping buildings and equipment running safely and reliably. You're comfortable troubleshooting a mix of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, and you don't hesitate to pick up a tool and solve a problem on the spot. You bring a strong service mindset to every interaction — whether you're coordinating with a contractor, responding to a work order, or helping a coworker in a pinch. You're dependable under pressure, ready to respond to an emergency call, and just as comfortable working solo as you are leading a small crew.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• One to three years of experience and/or training in building maintenance, equipment operation, and manual labor (or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities)
• Valid Arizona Driver's License; may require possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal License

This position requires a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.

This position has been designated as a Heavy work position that spends a majority of their workday in a field and facilities environment.
