Job summary

Nueces County seeks a Maintenance Worker to supervise and perform manual and machine-assisted labor maintaining county buildings and grounds. You will be on duty before, during, and after disasters as directed by the supervisor.

The role requires ability to read simple instructions, perform basic repairs, operate vehicles, and supervise others. Valid Texas driver’s license and background check required; outdoor, physical work in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Education: Less than high school with 2+ years of manual or machine-assisted labor experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide; compute rates and percentages.
• Must be able to supervise, train, and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

• Give daily work assignments to crew.
• Move furniture and county property; operate equipment.
• Perform repairs and light maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Load/unload materials; drive truck between sites.
• Weed, edge, and maintain county property; apply basic fertilizers.
