Job summary

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician (OPS) to support the Operations Department. The role requires skilled maintenance across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and address system malfunctions.

The position is 12-month, union-represented (OCMA), with a pay rate of $22.47 per hour plus benefits. The department emphasizes safe work practices and timely response to work orders under district procedures.

Qualifications

• Trade school training or equivalent in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment for maintenance of school facilities.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in challenging conditions, with exposure to elements or confined spaces.
• Experience in maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs general repair and maintenance tasks pertaining to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire, burglar, and other building systems as assigned.
• Conducts periodic maintenance inspections according to assigned schedule.
• Monitors all work orders and responds to them in a timely manner, per District procedure.
• Assists with the assembly and maintenance of fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Ensures that equipment, work areas, and vehicles are neat, clean, and orderly; and promptly reports damage and hazards to the Director of Operations or designee.
• Performs emergency repairs and cleaning as assigned.
• Participates in snow removal efforts as assigned.
• Utilizes safe work practices, and properly utilizes personal protective equipment when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
