Job summary

HOPES CAP, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep facilities safe, clean and in excellent condition across multiple locations. You will perform repairs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and painting, while conducting inspections and preventative maintenance.

You will also assist with landscaping, snow removal, vehicle maintenance, and on-call emergencies, collaborating with the Facilities team to ensure operations run smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in building maintenance or related fields.
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License & Boiler Operation License.
• Basic computer skills to access email and ESS for communication with the Agency.
• Strong skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
• Able to use power tools and maintenance equipment.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting.
• Conduct regular facility inspections and preventative maintenance across multiple locations.
• Assist with outdoor maintenance including landscaping and snow removal.
• Operate power tools, hand tools and maintenance equipment safely.
• Handle vehicle maintenance including tune-ups and fluid checks.
• Support on-call repairs during severe weather conditions.
• Collaborate with Facilities team to ensure smooth operations.
• Be available for on-call assignments, especially during weather or emergencies.
