Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician helps maintain GBHS facilities, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operations across multiple locations. This position performs preventive maintenance, repairs building systems, coordinates with vendors, transports supplies between facilities, and assists with facility improvement projects under the direction of the Facilities Manager.

This is a very physically active position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, reaching, and lifting or moving materials and equipment. The employee must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and up to 75 pounds with assistance or reasonable accommodation. The ability to safely operate hand and power tools and perform physical tasks in a timely manner is required. Must meet minimum general requirements for GBHS employment as set forth in the GBHS employee handbook.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors across multiple GBHS facilities and may require evening, weekend, or emergency response as needed. The work environment includes exposure to varying weather conditions, maintenance equipment, cleaning chemicals, dust, loud noise, uneven surfaces, and construction materials. Employees will work around animals and may be exposed to animal dander, odors, allergens, zoonotic diseases, bites, or scratches while performing facility maintenance and transportation duties. Compliance with all GBHS safety procedures and policies is required. Must be able to work with and around animals of all types, including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and other species. Exposure to animal dander, parasites, infectious diseases, odors, and humane euthanasia procedures may occur as part of the work environment.
