Position Summary
The Facilities Department is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and modifications to the site, building, and production supported systems (HVAC, electricity, compressed air, plumbing, etc.). The Facilities Technician will be assigned tasks via CMMS, completing work solo or as part of a team, and may work with designated contractors. We require a Licensed Commercial HVAC Journeyman in Kentucky with a Valid EPA Certification.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and perform root cause analysis on assigned repairs, execute immediate repairs, and develop countermeasures to prevent future failures.
- Locate and requisition parts from onsite inventory or identify external resources; coordinate scheduling and complete Return to Service documentation.
- Document labor, parts, and materials in CMMS, ensuring closure of work orders.
- Conduct preventive maintenance according to job plans, gather tools, adhere to safety plans, test systems, replace panels, clean work areas, and log data in CMMS.
- Assist with modifications by gathering data, selecting parts, preparing layouts, planning or scheduling work, and other related tasks.
- Report and recommend improvements to job plans, inventory, tooling, and communication methods; analyze failure modes when requested.
- Participate in training sessions and department meetings.
- Maintain clean and organized tool boxes and work areas (5S).
- Utilize CMMS for all assignment management, record keeping, and documentation.
Essential Duties
- Use CMMS to receive assignments, look up parts, plan and record work.
- Use checklists for autonomous maintenance walks and report anomalies.
- Operate basic hand tools and maintain required tool inventory.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and modifications safely and with minimal operational disruption.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
- Complete required trainings on schedule.
- Participate in department meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain clean and organized tool boxes and work areas (5S).
Qualifications
- Licensed Commercial HVAC Journeyman with Valid EPA Certification.
- Valid Kentucky license; preferred Universal level refrigerant handling license.
- Basic hand tools, chest, box or bag required; larger tools supplied by Bendix.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Basic math skills.
- High school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
- Understanding of refrigeration cycle; able to teach.
- Ability to read and understand wiring schematics and diagrams.
- Experience in industrial facility maintenance covering HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and controls.
- Knowledge of CMMS (preferably SAP Plant Maintenance). Ability to search internet for maintenance info.
- Basic Microsoft Excel and Outlook proficiency.
- Experience with root‑cause analysis tools, e.g., 5 Whys.
- Self‑starter with high quality and performance values.
- Willing to work on all assignments from restroom to roof.
Physical Requirements
- Walk, kneel, squat, lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.
- Lift or carry tools, parts, and refrigerant up to 50 lbs (may exceed).
- Work atop roofs, ladders, and lifts; operate powered industrial trucks and personnel lifts.
- Perform tasks requiring visibility and manual dexterity.
Working Environmental Conditions
May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, and fumes. Hearing protection required for noise at or above 85 decibels.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Bowling Green, KY is $30.49‑$43.05 per hour. Pay depends on experience, industry, and education.
