Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a licensed HVAC Technician to perform high-level preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pumps and fans. The role requires strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic circuits and the ability to read blueprints.

Occasional travel within the Rocky Mountain Region is expected. Responsibilities include performing PMs, sourcing parts, and mentoring other technicians while adhering to safety and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • EPA 608 refrigerant certification required or equivalent.
  • High school diploma with hands-on HVAC/trade training.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC, boilers, chillers and electrical work.
  • Able to read blueprints and interpret
  • Able to travel within Rocky Mountain Region

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, boilers, chillers and pumps.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Respond to emergency service calls 24/7/365 as needed.
  • Source parts, document PMs, and train junior mechanics.

Salary Range: $31.00-$35.00 Per Hour

SUMMARY

Without supervision, performs highly skilled level of preventative and corrective maintenance duties with Specialty skills in commercial HVAC, chillers, boilers / steam boilers, circulation pumps, and exhaust fans. Experience in major facilities equipment repairs and troubleshooting system and equipment issues. Well-rounded in facilities maintenance to include all mechanical level functions, general maintenance, and easily adapts to changing situations. This position is in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Location: Work sites located in the Denver area. Occasional travel within the region as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions

This position is for a licensed HVAC Technician to:

  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all major and minor industrial, commercial pieces of equipment related to facilities in accordance with the Manufacturer O&M requirements.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and repair all major and minor HVAC equipment such as air handing unit (AHU), condensers, compressors, water cooling towers, chillers, boilers, circulation pump and motors. and/or systems including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic circuits.
  • Possess basic knowledge on water test analysis in open and close system.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Must be able to perform building (plumbing and electrical) and equipment repairs using hand tools, power tools and multiple electrical circuit troubleshooting with a volt-ohm meter.
  • Assembles components from supplied instructions or drawings and designs or fabricates simple components, assemblies, or machine modifications.
  • Performs maintenance of equipment including lubrication utilizing oil or grease pumps/guns, disassemble, overhaul, and reassemble complex components and replacement of defective electrical components or mechanical parts with supplied original manufacturer parts.
  • Works as a team to provide any general maintenance requirements such but not limited to lighting, bulb changes, mechanical room cleaning, parts/supplies sourcing and pick up.
  • Submit summary and QC reports of completed PMs to Contract Maintenance Manager.
  • Position requires responding to emergency service calls 24/7/365 and could require planned or emergency overnight stay at out reached facility.
  • Sources and picks-up ordered parts or supplies and restocks parts or supplies.
  • Complies with all equipment, safety, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in training and coaching other mechanics.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of
  • SOP for equipment operations and maintenance including safety rules and regulations.
  • 5-8 years (preferred) of technical and trade experience in commercial HVAC.
  • Building trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, Fire protection, and lighting, etc.
  • Highly technical skills in troubleshooting problems with facilities and equipment, controls, and systems.
  • Able to read blueprints and develop "As Built" drawings for all components of facility maintenance.
  • 5 years (preferred) of operations and management experience.
  • Mathematical computations and applications skills.
Skilled in
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, including Company safety rules and regulations, recognizing hazards, and taking appropriate corrective action.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting problems with equipment, identifying solutions, recommending, and implementing methods, procedures, and/or techniques for resolution.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment and operating systems.
  • Performing repair techniques including, but not limited to, cutting, drilling, gluing, caulking, fastening of plastic, wood, and steel; performs brazing, soldering, and welding.
  • Designing and fabricating components, assemblies, or machine modifications.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Understanding and following written and oral instructions.
  • Training and coaching other technicians.
  • Reading, writing, and speaking English, and communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals contacted in the course of work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by hands-on or vocational school training.
  • Certified with the EPA 608 refrigerant rules/Universal Cert.
  • Certified by a nationally recognized HVAC certification program (i.e., North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving history.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling, stooping, and crouching climbing and walking, vision to monitor, occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Incumbents will be required to travel to various locations throughout Indiana and Michigan.
  • Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools and equipment. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to obtain installation access cards.
