Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) seeks a General Maintenance Worker to support the Office of Scientific and Technical Information in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The role covers general maintenance and repair across trades including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical tasks.

Responsibilities include safety involvement, housekeeping, assisting other trades, and occasional structural work. Requires a HS diploma, valid driver’s license, and 3 years of O&M experience.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver’s license is required.
• Three years’ work experience in O&M services.
• Basic working knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and painting.
• On-Call 24-7 response with the ability to respond to base emergency within 1 hour.

Responsibilities

• Supports the project Safety Plan through involvement in safety training and adherence to requirements.
• Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building across trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical assistance.
• Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.
• Replaces cover plates, patches holes in walls/ceilings, paints structures, and moves furniture as needed.
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
• Assists other crafts and trades personnel in daily operations. Mowing, trimming, weed control.
• Performs other tasks as necessary.
