Job summary

Cooper River Assisted Living is seeking a maintenance associate to care for the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The role supports nursing services, follows schedules, reports incidents, and ensures resident comfort through routine upkeep of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate can interpret written or scheduled instructions, work independently when needed, and communicate effectively with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a 10th grade education.
• Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, facility and equipment in a safe and presentable condition.
• Follow maintenance schedules and report accidents/incidents to supervisor.
• Coordinate daily maintenance with nursing services in resident living areas.
• Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical systems and other facility components.
• Replace burned-out light bulbs and service lighting as needed; clean windows and screens.
• Service and maintain heating and cooling units according to manufacturer instructions.
