Job summary

The Galt House Hotel is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for 1st Shift (8 AM-4 PM). You will handle general maintenance across electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and painting tasks, completing requests from all departments in a timely manner.

Preventive maintenance and guest-ready upkeep are essential parts of the role. Responsibilities include troubleshooting calls, ensuring safety and compliance, and reporting any unusual occurrences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
• Mechanically inclined with ability to be trained.
• Working knowledge of electrical supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of chemical handling and disposal.
• Working knowledge of health, electrical and fire codes, blueprints and wiring schematics.
• Ability to use power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the trades.
• Provide legible communication and directions.
• Compute math calculations.
• Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general condition of the property across electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and painting tasks.

• Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures and standards.
• Follow correct maintenance and use of equipment.
• Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly to ensure satisfaction.
• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities.

Job description

The Galt House Hotel is currently looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to work during 1st Shift (8 AM- 4 PM).

This person will be responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and painting work. You will complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis and perform preventive maintenance for all building equipment and rooms.

Requirements

• Performs general maintenance skills necessary for diagnosing and repairing buildings and equipment on property.
• Change light bulbs, switch plate covers, replacing filters and switching out appliances in guest rooms.
• Performs preventative maintenance as assigned.
• Troubleshoots maintenance calls and performs basic repairs or reaches out for assistance when issues are beyond scope of one's capabilities.
• Reports any unusual occurrence and or damage that may have taken place that is observed while on duty.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities and special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of all electrical supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
• Working knowledge of:
  • Health codes
  • Electrical codes
  • National/local fire codes
  • Local mechanical codes
  • Blue prints and wiring schematics
  • Power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades
• Provide legible communication and directions.
• Compute math calculations.
• Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.

Ability to

• Interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
• Be well organized and follow instructions.
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
