Job summary

Surya is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to support the Facilities Manager in keeping a large, 1-million sq. ft. facility safe and operational. The role may require after-hours work to address alarms and urgent maintenance needs.

The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and hands-on. A High School diploma or GED is required, with technical certification or a related degree preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of building maintenance experience in a large facility.
• High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or related degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and Department of Health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to facility and equipment alarms, emergencies, and system failures.
• Provide prompt and professional support to maintenance requests from occupants.
• Coordinate with external vendors for routine maintenance and repairs (HVAC, Electrical/UPS, Fire alarm, sprinklers, generators, security).
• Perform general facility maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Monitor building systems for safety, efficiency, and compliance.
• Support OSHA and health compliance programs and safety training.
• Assist with environmental health initiatives and act as backup to Facilities Manager.

Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician supports the Facilities Manager in maintaining a safe, efficient, and fully operational facility. This hands‑on role is responsible for ensuring building systems, equipment, and infrastructure are properly maintained and compliant with company policies and safety regulations.

The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and not afraid to roll up their sleeves. This is a full‑time position that may require flexibility outside regular business hours to respond to alarms, system failures, or urgent facility needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to facility and equipment alarms, emergencies, and system failures

• Provide prompt and professional support to maintenance requests from building occupants

• Coordinate with external vendors for routine maintenance and repairs, including:

  • HVAC systems

  • Electrical and UPS systems

  • Fire alarm and sprinkler systems

  • Backup generators

  • Security systems

  • Housekeeping services

• Perform general facility maintenance and repairs as needed

• Monitor building systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance

• Promote a safe work environment by supporting OSHA and Department of Health compliance and conducting safety training for employees

• Assist with environmental health and safety initiatives

• Act as a backup to the Facilities Manager when required

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of building maintenance experience in a large‑scale facility (approximately 1 million sq. ft.)

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Technical certification or Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred

• Working knowledge of OSHA and Department of Health regulations

• Bilingual (English and Spanish) required

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities

• Strong work ethic with a hands‑on, team‑oriented mindset

Physical Requirements
