Job summary

VIRTEX in Plano, TX seeks a Facilities Technician to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our facilities. You will perform maintenance, assist with manufacturing equipment maintenance, and oversee repairs while maintaining grounds and building systems.

The role requires hands-on expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and related trades, plus the ability to troubleshoot and work with the safety team on drills and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or 3 years related experience.
• HVAC EPA certification.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Operations Manager and ensures efficient and safe operation of facilities.
• Performs maintenance tasks and oversees repairs; maintains grounds.
• Assist with manufacturing equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Conducts daily facility and grounds inspections and monitors BAS for unsafe conditions.
• Responds to facility-related emergencies on a 24/7 basis and coordinates repairs as needed.
• Oversees contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance projects.
• Maintains inventory of tools and supplies and keeps maintenance logs up to date.
• Supports safety drills, procedures, and OSHA compliance.

Description

Reports to the Operations Manager. Responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our facilities, performing maintenance tasks, and overseeing repairs, and maintaining the grounds. Assist with manufacturing equipment maintenance. The Facilities Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining all critical building functions.

Requirements

• System Maintenance: Performing routine checks, maintenance, and repairs on heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical systems
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist production team and engineers with preventive maintenance or emergency repairs of manufacturing equipment
• Facility and Structure Repair: Making repairs to interior and exterior building structures, including painting, patching, and door and window hardware maintenance
• Inspections and Monitoring: Conducting daily inspections of facilities and grounds, monitoring systems via building automation systems (BAS), and identifying and reporting unsafe conditions
• Emergency Response: Responding to facility-related emergencies, such as alarms, and performing necessary repairs on a 24/7 basis
• Coordinate and oversee: Contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or maintenance projects.
• Maintain inventory of equipment: Tools, and supplies needed for facility maintenance.
• Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for staff and visitors. Assist safety team in leading drills, procedures, and training. OSHA compliance
• Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed, including work orders, maintenance logs, humidity logs, and equipment manuals.
• Preventive Maintenance Schedules: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for building and equipment, for example RTUs

Education

• High school diploma or 3 years job of related experience
• HVAC EPA certification

Work Experience/Technical Knowledge

• Technical Skills: Expertise in various trades including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, additional skills such as carpentry, welding, forklift certification a plus.
• Read and understand drawings, blueprints, schematics, technical manuals and work instructions.
• Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to work, troubleshoot, and resolve complex facility issues independently, decisive and logical decision making.
• Self-Directed: Create and follow schedules, excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, be available when contacted.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to give and receive direction, able to communicate with all levels of staff, C-suite to general staff.
• Physical stamina: Able to climb ladders, move heavy equipment up to 50lbs, work in outside environment (hot & cold), and perform various manual labor tasks.
• Experience with basic hand tools: Such as screwdrivers wrenches, cutting tools, measuring tools, multimeters.
• Flexible Team player: Willing to work with internal staff including executive team, area supervisors, and general staff. Flexible to work outside of general responsibilities, ex. ESD testing.
