Job summary

The City of DeSoto seeks a Facilities Technician under the Facilities Manager to perform specialized maintenance and repairs on city buildings and infrastructure, including carpentry, painting, mechanical work, safety compliance, and landscaping.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, knowledge of city policies, and strong planning, staff supervision, and communication skills to manage contractors and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Five (5) years of related work experience.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skilled in planning, developing, and implementing facilities maintenance programs.
• Skilled in managing staff.
• Skilled in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with contractors and external parties.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with City administration, employees, and the public.

• Performs restoration, renovation, and maintenance in designated skilled trades including carpentry, sheetrock, painting, air conditioning, minor electrical and plumbing.
