Job summary

Landmark of Lincoln Park in Chicago seeks a Maintenance Assistant to uphold safety and quality in daily maintenance of buildings and grounds serving residents and staff.

You will perform preventive and emergency maintenance, coordinate with nursing services, and ensure clean, safe work areas while following rules for infection control and resident dignity. A valid driver’s license and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be a high school graduate or GED; past maintenance experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license as per insurance requirement.
• Must have a general knowledge of tools and maintenance equipment.
• Must be able to work on plumbing systems.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
• Must be able to handle stressful situations and be flexible and adaptable.
• Must meet health assessment requirements, including two stage Mantoux skin tests and one-step annually thereafter.
• Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs electrical and plumbing systems, heating or cooling units, fixtures, and equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance per the facility’s plan and inspections.
• Performs routine maintenance of furnishings, fixtures, equipment and grounds.
• Carries out emergency maintenance when required.
• Coordinates with other departments during routine maintenance in resident areas.
• Attends department meetings and training to stay current with procedures.
• Ensures safety, infection control, and resident dignity in all activities.
• Keeps work areas clean and stores tools and supplies properly.
