Job summary

Havasu Landing Resort and Casino is seeking a part-time Tribal Facility Maintenance Technician to oversee day-to-day condition of facilities, grounds, and related infrastructure. You will inspect, maintain, and report on property, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect buildings, airport facilities, roadways, and related infrastructure.
  • Develop and prioritize daily, weekly, and preventive maintenance plans with the Tribal Planner.
  • Perform routine maintenance and simple repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, lighting).
  • Maintain airport roads, parking areas, drainage, signage, and fencing in safe condition.
  • Conduct grounds and landscape work including trimming and debris removal.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and vehicles; monitor inventory.
  • Document inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities; prepare reports.

STATUS : Temporary / Part-Time / Exempt, 20-29 hrs. per week
DEPARTMENT : Realty/Planning

SALARY : $20.00 - 25.00 / hour, DOE

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position serves as the primary point of responsibility for the day-to-day condition and maintenance of assigned facilities, airport property, roads, grounds, and related infrastructure. The employee will personally perform routine maintenance and grounds work, identify deficiencies, coordinate outside contractors when specialized services are required, collect and maintain operational data, and provide regular reports to management. This position requires a highly self-directed individual who can prioritize competing needs, work independently with minimal supervision, respond to urgent issues, and maintain accurate records while ensuring the property remains safe, clean, functional, and presentable.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, airport facilities, roadways, parking areas, drainage systems, fencing, gates, signage, landscaping, and other infrastructure to identify maintenance, safety, and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with the Tribal Planner to develop and prioritize daily, weekly, and preventative maintenance activities and work plans.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs within the employee's skills and qualifications, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, lighting, hardware, and general facility repairs.
  • Maintain airport roads, access areas, parking areas, shoulders, drainage systems, signage, fencing, and related infrastructure in a safe, clean, and usable condition.
  • Perform grounds and landscape maintenance, including trimming, weed control, vegetation management, litter and debris removal, and seasonal cleanup.
  • Operate, inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on Tribal vehicles, tools, machinery, landscaping equipment, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, parts, fuel, materials, and equipment; ensure items are properly stored and readily available when needed.
  • Monitor the condition of buildings, facilities, roadways, drainage systems, and other infrastructure and identify conditions requiring specialized repair, replacement, or professional services.
  • Coordinate with and monitor contractors and vendors performing specialized work requiring additional labor, equipment, licensing, or technical expertise.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records documenting inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment servicing, completed projects, and outstanding work.
  • Collect and document field information, including photographs, condition assessments, equipment information, recurring maintenance issues, and work performed.
  • Prepare and submit regular maintenance and activity reports identifying completed work, outstanding issues, safety concerns, material and equipment needs, and upcoming priorities.
  • Respond to weather-related events and other urgent conditions, including flooding, debris, vegetation overgrowth, roadway hazards, facility damage, and other issues affecting Tribal operations or public safety.
  • Evaluate recurring maintenance issues and observed facility or infrastructure conditions and recommend appropriate repairs, improvements, preventative maintenance, equipment replacement, or capital projects.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance areas, storage areas, workspaces, tools, equipment, and related records.
  • Maintain safe work practices, secure work areas, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Collect data using ArcGIS applications.
Qualifications Required
  • Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, road maintenance, construction, property maintenance, or a related field .
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently perform a broad range of routine maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to operate and maintain common hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and ground-maintenance equipment, and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, or comparable software.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear written reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Experience as a facilities, property, public works, or maintenance technician.
  • Experience with roadways, drainage, landscaping, or ground maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, irrigation and building systems.
  • Experience managing contractors and vendors.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management or work-order systems.
  • Experience operating tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, or other maintenance equipment.
  • Relevant trade certifications or licenses.
  • Knowledge and ability in preparing and working within budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Assist in supporting Tribal Holiday/Events.
