Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift in Columbus, Ohio. You will perform day-to-day inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment.

• Lead maintenance team or manage large complexes; mentor and train staff.
• Distribute work orders in supervisor’s absence and ensure high levels of customer service.
• Maintain clean work areas and proper records; communicate with customers and supervision.

Position Summary: 2nd shift

Under the general direction of the supervisor, performs complex tasks related to day-to-day inspections, preventive maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to: daily inspections, installations, general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) and repairs. Identifies, communicates, coordinates and completes projects and work performed in the assigned area(s). Responds to emergency situations and evaluates and corrects defects. Leads team of facilities maintenance technicians or is solely responsible for the maintenance complexes that exceed 110,000 square feet. Mentors, trains and provides technical expertise to other staff. Distributes work orders in supervisor’s absence. Assists other trades as needed; adheres to all safety practices and procedures; cleans and maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; properly completes documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices; operates department vehicle; performs other duties as assigned. Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call.
