Job summary

Journey is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform routine maintenance and repairs across our Tybee Island facility. The role involves responding to maintenance requests, conducting inspections, and supporting the upkeep of the building and grounds to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in maintenance, with a working understanding of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent optional but preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a maintenance/plant related position.
• Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility or Long-Term Care preferred but not required.
• Working understanding of electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and architectural systems.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL if needed for resident transport.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance of the property including grounds and physical plant.
• Paints, repairs, and maintains fixtures and surfaces.
• Handles plumbing, carpentry, window and wall repairs.
• Maintains medical equipment service/repair records and preventive maintenance.
• Follows safety, fire, and OSHA guidelines and documents maintenance requests.
