Job summary

Montrose Recreation District is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support preventive, regular, and urgent maintenance of MRD indoor facilities including the Community Recreation Center and Field House. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and may supervise assistants and volunteers.

Responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, scheduling repairs, managing HVAC/plumbing, budgeting support, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well-organized with ability to prioritize tasks.
• Able to work physically near others and in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems and identify issues.
• Repair faulty equipment and damaged structures.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
• Manage heating and plumbing systems to ensure usability.
• Plan and schedule repairs and perform quality checks.
• Perform general maintenance including landscaping, painting, carpentry.
• Assist in budget development for the maintenance department.
• Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies.
• Provide training to community service workers.
• Assist in keeping facilities clean and well-maintained.
