Job summary

Effingham County, GA Board of Commissioners seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician II to perform journey-level preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for county facilities with greater independence than Technician I.

The role coordinates work, documents labor and materials, operates county vehicles, and supports emergency response within approved authority and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of related experience; higher levels may require more.
• Valid driver’s license and county driving requirements.
• Trade or contractor credential if work requires it.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs across building systems (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
• Respond to breakdowns and emergencies; secure areas and escalate as needed.
• Inspect facilities, document work, and track labor and materials in the maintenance system.
• Coordinate work with departments and contractors; operate county vehicles and tools safely.
• Record and report completion status; support projects and routine rotations.
