Job summary

The Columbus Consolidated Government seeks a skilled supervisor to lead facilities maintenance and carpentry activities. You will oversee installation, repair, and operation of city equipment, supervise staff and inmate workers, and ensure safety and compliance with OSHA and building codes.

Responsibilities include training personnel, maintaining inventory, coordinating events, and supporting HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work across city properties.

Qualifications

• Experience usually 1–3 years in supervisory roles.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license required.
• Able to supervise state inmate labor and complete a 3‑day certification within ~6 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervises maintenance and carpentry activities and the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment.
• Supervises workers and inmates and trains new employees/inmates; performs evaluations.
• Manages inventory, estimates time and materials, and coordinates events/projects.
• Performs preventive maintenance and assists with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Maintains city property and assists other departments with maintenance duties.
