Job summary

Mt. Prospect Park District is hiring a full-time, non-exempt Buildings Maintenance Specialist-General Trades to maintain Park District facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in building or shop trades or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license; obtain Illinois Class C license within 6 months.
• Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator certification if required.
• Must be able to operate use of carpentry, power tools, and construction-related equipment.
• Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment physical with drug screen.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain facilities by performing HVAC maintenance, general construction, plumbing, electrical, painting, and other assigned tasks.
• Diagnose and solve problems related to maintenance and repairs.
• Review construction plans and provide feedback on materials and equipment per District standards.
• Estimate material quantities and budget costs for projects.
• Be familiar with current village construction codes and techniques.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on aquatic facilities.
• Assist with annual Capital Improvement planning and budget.
• Provide technical consultation to staff on facility-related issues.
