Responsible for maintenance and construction work in various trades in the repair and maintenance of County buildings, grounds, and related equipment. Work is performed under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor II and Facilities Director.
- Performs general and specialized tasks in the construction, renovation, modification, installation, and repair of buildings, equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
- Performs tasks and oversee general landscaping and grounds keeping maintenance.
- Performs plumbing work in repairing irrigation systems. Repairs and replaces old lines; replaces broken fixtures; unstops sinks and toilets.
- Performs general carpentry work.
- Performs maintenance on air conditioning equipment.
- Performs painting of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
- Knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods typically used in building and grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of component parts, operation principles, and maintenance needs for light equipment
- Skilled in the use of materials and equipment typically used in building and grounds maintenance.
- Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials of the trades to which assigned.
- Ability to work from blueprints, rough sketches, and follow as well as give oral and written instructions.
- Ability to recognize safety hazards in the work involved and tasks precautionary methods to protect self and others.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of experience in in building grounds maintenance or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License. May be required to possess a Limited Applicators License.
