Job summary

George Washington University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician within Facilities, Buildings & Grounds to support campus operations across GW's campuses in Washington, DC. The role performs semi-skilled repairs and preventive maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment to keep systems safe and functional.

Under the direction of journey-level trades, you will work in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical trades, and related tasks, with record-keeping and on-site

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree or higher.
• A valid driver's license and CPR/first aid certification.
• Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand tools and power tools as needed.
• Perform minor repairs on fixtures, plumbing, heating, laundry, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate automotive equipment to transport materials and supplies.
• Read blueprints, drawings, schematics to locate trouble areas and complete repairs.
• Provide guidance to staff to ensure work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
