The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring two Facilities Maintenance Specialist- Advanced positions. These positions are located at Truax Air Base in Madison.
The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m.
The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. During emergencies, no single organization can handle the response. The DMA consists of several organizations working together to plan, prepare, coordinate, and respond effectively when our communities and neighbors need us the most.

Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist- Advanced position performs maintenance, minor repairs, minor troubleshooting, and basic operation of physical plant equipment. This includes HVAC/R, Plumbing, Electrical, and Food Service equipment and components. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist- Advanced will help with snow removal. The position serves as a member of a concrete / pavement crew when required and performs alterations /repairs to facility structures. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist- Advanced maintains records and reports, prepares material and supply estimates, and place orders through material control.
Salary Information
Starting pay is $25.57/ hr.
This position is in the 03-13 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.
The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Job Details
Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
Must be physically able to lift and move objects in excess of 50 pounds.
Must be able to operate lift equipment and have no limitations for working in high areas.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license as a condition of continued employment. You will be trained on specific vehicles and will receive assistance to obtain the licensure if you do not already possess.
In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check.
In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
Qualifications
Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have all of the following qualifications:
- Experience with general maintenance equipment operation such as: forklift, end loader, truck mounted plows, snow blowers, skid steer, scissor lift, etc.
- Metal and/ or wood fabrication experience.
- Basic plumbing experience.
- Basic maintenance experience with HVAC equipment.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, well-qualified candidates will also have the following preferred qualifications:
- Experience with office software programs such as Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic electrical experience.
- Moderate to significant experience with plumbing.
