Job summary

The New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service is seeking Maintenance Assistants to perform semi-skilled tasks across carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting within state facilities. The role reports to a supervisor and may involve supervising others and coordinating with contractors as needed.

Qualifications include two years of maintenance/technical schooling, ability to read plans, and a valid NY driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work or completion of a two-year technical school.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to read/write English.
• Must be able to work at heights and lift 50+ lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various temperatures and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry and other facilities.
• Manage grounds maintenance: mowing, trims, snow/ice removal, trash collection.
• Maintain and repair equipment and vehicles; troubleshoot problems.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors; supervise subordinates when directed.
