Job summary

The Personnel Board of Jefferson County is hiring Maintenance Repair Workers to operate, maintain, and repair building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical components in its facilities. The role involves using tools, reading blueprints, and responding to maintenance requests to keep the building safe and functional.

Work is performed in a variety of county facilities with competitive benefits, paid holidays, and leave.

Qualifications

• Driver's license is required.
• Experience in routine preventive maintenance in at least two of: refrigeration/HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.

Responsibilities

• Assists skilled trade workers with completion of major tasks by providing information about the repair, facility and problem, and helping with the repair process to complete the project or repair on time.
• Coordinates installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and appliances to maintain a safe environment for employees and the public within the facility.
• Manages availability of necessary equipment and supplies for frequent repairs and maintenance so work orders can be addressed and the project completed correctly and on time.
• Performs general building upkeep by identifying unsafe conditions and ensuring repairs are addressed to maintain safety and security.
• Performs general maintenance and minor repairs using hand tools to repair or replace worn or broken objects and maintain appearance and safety.
• Maintains and monitors heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment by performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Manages maintenance, furniture and facility items to be safely used and enhance building appearance.
• Receives and processes maintenance requests from occupants via email, phone, or written request and acts on them to ensure a safe environment.
• Manages plumbing and water fixtures installation, repair and maintenance to ensure the facility is safe and usable.
