Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking a Facility Maintenance Specialist 2 for the HP Academy in Columbus, OH. The role involves hands‑on electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry work with a full‑time schedule and daytime hours.

Successful applicants will have post‑secondary training in facilities maintenance or related tech, plus at least three years in construction/building maintenance including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of post‑secondary training in facilities maintenance technology or comparable program.
• 3 years of experience in construction/building maintenance including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, install, maintain and repair electrical systems, fixtures, controls and equipment.
• Install, modify and repair plumbing and perform routine maintenance for backflow prevention and plumbing.
• Perform routine HVAC and mechanical room maintenance on rooftop units, boilers and pumps.
• Perform rough and finished carpentry for wood work and installations.
• Inspect building maintenance repairs and alterations.
• Fabricate and install door frames, locks, windows and glass replacements.
• Maintain training facility pool including pump maintenance and filter replacement.
