Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic in Norfolk, VA to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and facility systems across a range of building and production support equipment.

The role requires access to Navy installations with NAVSEA badges, adherence to safety procedures, and progression through journeyperson levels as experience grows. This position is based in Norfolk with all-shift availability.

Qualifications

• Must have commercial industrial experience.
• Ability to access Navy installations and NAVSEA badges.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs complex preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
• Determines repair requirements using diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, manufacturer specifications, equipment condition, and diagnostic findings.
• Troubleshoots and resolves complex mechanical and equipment problems within the scope of the position.
• Performs and supports a broad range of building and facility maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensures required maintenance documentation and records are accurately completed.
• Applies established safety requirements and promotes safe maintenance practices.
