Job summary

Johns Hopkins Facilities is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to perform a wide range of general maintenance jobs, including high-voltage motors, repairs, and inspection of machines, equipment and buildings. Work covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting and carpentry across the Homewood Campus.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma/GED and five years of trade experience. Driver's license preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of relevant trade experience (electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Knowledge in mechanical drawing, electricity, woodworking, blueprint reading, science, and mathematics.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on campus daily.
• Ability to climb ladders and use a full range of craftsmen’s tools.
• Ability to read and follow job orders and instructions.
• Ability to interact respectfully with faculty, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, adjusts, or replaces structural parts of buildings and furniture.
• Performs plumbing, HVAC, and electrical maintenance tasks.
• Carpentry work such as building forms, shelving, and benches.
• Prepares and applies paints on walls, ceilings and woodwork.
• Maintains records of maintenance and repairs.
• Observe safety precautions and maintain a clean work area.
• May provide guidance to less experienced workers.
