Job summary

RR Donnelley in Durham, NC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Facilities to maintain building systems, utilities, grounds, and the general plant environment. You will perform HVAC maintenance, plumbing, basic electrical work, and coordinate contractor repairs to keep operations safe and efficient.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 1–3+ years in building maintenance; an associate degree or trade certificate is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or trade certificate preferred.
• 1–3+ years in industrial or commercial building maintenance.
• Solid knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, building structures, and low‑voltage electrical systems.
• Ability to read schematics and operate common maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general facility repairs including light carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, and basic electrical work.
• Inspect and maintain HVAC units, air filters, thermostats, and climate-control systems.
• Conduct safety inspections, follow OSHA, LOTO, and environmental standards.
• Maintain auxiliary facility equipment and coordinate contractor repairs.
• Manage grounds, parking areas, and walkways; assist with space reconfigurations.
• Submit PO requests and maintain maintenance records; operate forklifts and similar equipment.
