Overview

Perfetti Van Melle (makers of Mentos, Airheads, Dentyne, Trident, and Bubblicious!) is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum, with global brands enjoyed in over 150 countries worldwide. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Facilities Operator Maintenance Mechanic to join our growing team.

Hours and Shift

2:00pm-10:30pm Rotating 8-Hour Shift (AWS requiring 50% weekend work)

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs for equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating, cooling, and other building systems.
• Coordinate the execution of maintenance programs and assist with processing and packaging maintenance as needed.
• Apply IL6S-Integrated Lean 6 sigma principles to deliver zero breakdowns through preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Coach and develop operating teams in routine maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align priorities.
• Use power and hand tools properly and demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including bearing and shaft removal, machine assembly/disassembly, and repairs to plumbing, heating, and cooling systems.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in maintenance or demonstrated mechanical/electrical skills.
• Ability to read instructions and use CMMS systems like SAP and UpKeep.
• Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems; excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop others.
• Willingness to work any shift, including weekends.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate machine tools.
• Commitment to safety and following OSHA, GMP, and FDA guidelines.
