Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for proactively maintaining the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive and predictive maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

1. Assist in installing and servicing different pieces of equipment, using required self-supplied and company-supplied hand tools.
2. Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks.
3. Move and raise components using hoists, dollies, or other provided equipment.
4. Update daily work communications.
5. Maintain tools, powered vehicles, and equipment; keep parts and supplies in order.
6. Ensure a clean and hazard-free work area throughout the day.
7. Use and maintain safety equipment on job sites.
8. Perform other duties as business needs dictate.
9. Follow applicable safety, environmental, food safety, and GMP requirements.
10. Execute job order assignments and keep accurate records.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

• Previous maintenance experience preferred but willing to train.
• Mechanically inclined with basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Computer and technology aptitude.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of proper tool use and care.
• Ability to follow maintenance procedures outlined in equipment manuals.
• Basic knowledge of gas, arc, and TIG welding.
• Ability to diagnose and correct equipment failures.
• Familiarity with air compressors, pumps, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.

Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through on-the-job training or experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, and stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for short distances.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Work in non-climate-controlled environments.
