The Aquarium in Denver is seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead a hands-on team responsible for keeping the guest environment world-class. You’ll oversee preventative maintenance, respond to issues, and partner with leadership to drive reliable operations.

Lead a team across facilities, coordinate with external partners, and manage budgets with a focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. This role offers growth within a dynamic hospitality and attraction setting.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in large facility/venue maintenance and repair across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team-development abilities.
  • Proficiency in coordinating with operations for calendar and budget planning.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment including HVAC, motors, pumps, conveyors, and lighting/sound systems.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and forecast maintenance needs while replacing worn components.
  • Coordinate housekeeping and facility cleanliness with operations to meet standards.
  • Supervise facility teams, including landscaping and custodial staff.
  • Oversee equipment installations, preventive maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop and manage facility operating and maintenance budgets.

Responsibilities


  • Inspect, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, including HVAC systems, motors and controls, pumps, conveyors, fans, lighting and sound systems, and pneumatic equipment.

  • Perform a wide range of maintenance duties requiring knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, tools, machinery, and equipment used in restaurant and hospitality operations.

  • Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace worn and damaged components while proactively forecasting future maintenance and replacement needs.

  • Coordinate housekeeping, sanitation, and overall facility cleanliness with operations management to ensure company standards are consistently met.

  • Supervise and direct facility support teams, including landscaping and custodial personnel.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with public utility providers, environmental agencies, energy vendors, landlords, and other external partners.

  • Oversee equipment installations, facility repairs, and preventive maintenance programs to maximize operational efficiency and minimize downtime.

  • Plan, budget, and coordinate facility modifications and capital improvement projects, including cost estimates, bid preparation, layouts, contractor management, and project execution.

  • Maintain accurate records, technical references, work orders, maintenance logs, tool inventories, spare parts inventories, and facility status reports.

  • Provide support during evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations, including participation in a 24-hour on-call rotation as required.

  • Develop, manage, and monitor facility operating and maintenance budgets.

  • Ensure the facility remains compliant with company standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental, health, safety, and security requirements.


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated experience in large facility / venue (over 100k sq. ft.) or multi-property responsibilities performing maintenance and repair work involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, basic carpentry, commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment. Plumbing and electrical experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including frequent lifting, climbing, bending, and extended periods of standing.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees, vendors, and contractors.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email systems, and basic computer operations.

  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes, including electrical, plumbing, ADA compliance requirements, and OSHA regulations.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to urgent maintenance issues.
