Job summary

The State Highway Administration in Baltimore is seeking a Skilled Trade Specialist III to maintain the Headquarters Complex facilities and grounds. This role leads the maintenance team in the supervisor's absence and coordinates with contractors and other SHA divisions.

Candidates should have four years of skilled-trade experience and the ability to read technical drawings. Maryland licensing and safety compliance are required; CDL may be needed for certain equipment.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of skilled trade experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting or welding.
• Two years carpentry experience in commercial or government settings preferred with ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, construction equipment and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain SHA Headquarters complex facilities and grounds (Hanover Complex ~ 251,000 sq ft on 26 acres).
• Oversee maintenance team in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor II and coordinate with contractors and other divisions.
• Ensure safety standards compliance, read and interpret technical drawings, and support emergency/ routine operations.
• Assist in scheduling work, equipment, and materials, and support pre-employment testing and regulatory requirements.
