Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky in Louisville is seeking a Facility Maintenance Supervisor II within the General Government Cabinet’s Department of Military Affairs to oversee maintenance and tenant relations for an office complex.

You will supervise custodial staff, approve leave, enforce policies, manage inventories, ensure compliance with contracts, and provide training. Requires five years in building/grounds maintenance or related trades; high school diploma accepted.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades or related experience; some supervision experience required.
• Formal training or experience can substitute for education/experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, assigns, inspects and ensures the accuracy of work performed by maintenance and custodial personnel.
• Authorizes or disapproves use of leave time as agency policies direct.
• Interprets and enforces agency policies and procedures with reference to assigned areas of responsibility.
• Makes recommendations for commendations or disciplinary actions.
• Responsible for requisitioning and maintaining inventories of custodial supplies and equipment required for the upkeep of buildings and grounds.
• Performs inspections and compliance with window, carpet, rug, furniture cleaning and pest control contract services.
• Provides orientation training to newly employed grounds and custodial personnel.
• Explains state policies and procedures to all supervised personnel and ensures compliance.
• Prepares and submits time and attendance records for personnel supervised.
