This full-time position involves maintaining grounds, repairing equipment, and keeping outdoor spaces presentable for Kentucky’s Veterans.

The role requires at least one year of related maintenance experience, the ability to work in a team, and a minimum age of 18.

Qualifications

• One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Incumbents may be exposed to extreme temperatures and must follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Care for the grounds and exterior of the building.
• Repair and maintain grounds equipment including mowers, trimmers, edgers, and related gear.
• Remove trash and debris from facility grounds.
• Maintain plants, grass, trees, shrubs and flowers.
• Assist in snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
• Paint walls in resident rooms and perform other duties as assigned.

Description

We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Maintenance Worker II who possesses the desire to care for Kentucky’s Veterans.

Expectations for this position include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the care maintenance and appearance of grounds and exterior of building.
• Repairs and maintains all grounds equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edger’s and other associated equipment.
• Removes trash and debris from facility grounds.
• Maintains plants, grass, trees, shrubs and flowers.
• Assists in snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
• Paints walls in resident rooms and other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
