Job summary

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians seeks a Housekeeper/Maintenance worker to maintain ACFS offices and facilities, performing housekeeping, cleaning, and basic repair tasks across plumbing, carpentry, and electrical areas.

The role supports safety, sanitation, and daily operations under the Shelter Manager. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, at least one year of maintenance/housekeeping experience, and the ability to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, and

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: At least one year in building repair, maintenance or housekeeping.
• Background check may be required under Tribe policies; drug-free workplace policy applies.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily housekeeping tasks including cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing offices.
• Maintain building surfaces, carpets, and grounds; assist with mowing and snow removal.
• Carry out routine inspections and basic repairs in plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
• Inspect safety equipment and alarms; manage supplies and coordinate with vendors.
• Adhere to safety policies, attend required trainings, and protect confidentiality.
• Work with minimal supervision and be flexible for weekend needs.
