Job summary

County of Hawai‘i’s Department of Parks & Recreation seeks a full-time facilities support worker for Ho‘olulu Complex in Hilo. The role covers janitorial, groundskeeping, and light to heavy manual tasks related to event prep and maintenance.

The job involves setting up equipment for events, maintaining grounds, basic repairs, operating small tools, and assisting tradesmen. A Hawaii driver’s license is required and a 8th grade education plus 2 years experience are needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of the eighth grade and two years of janitorial/groundskeeping experience.
• Ability to operate hand and light motorized equipment and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Sets up event facilities including risers, seating, stages, and equipment for Ho‘olulu Complex events.
• Maintains athletic fields, courts, and related grounds duties.
• Performs janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning floors and walls.
• Operates maintenance equipment and assists tradesmen in repairs.
• Enforces facility rules and opens/closes facilities for sponsor.
• Maintains records of attendance or usage if required.
