Job summary

County of Hawai‘i is seeking a full-time janitorial and groundskeeping worker for the Ho`olulu Complex in Hilo. The role involves preparing facilities for sponsor use, maintaining grounds and equipment, and assisting tradesmen in repairs and upkeep.

Applicants should be capable of heavy lifting, operating hand and power tools, and enforcing facility regulations. The position may involve shift work including evenings. A valid Hawaii driver’s license is required at time of hire.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and two years of work experience in janitorial/groundskeeping using hand tools and light equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up risers, floor panels, seats, tables, stage equipment for events.
• Maintain athletic fields including liming and lining.
• Set up scoreboard controls and PA systems.
• Disassemble and store equipment after events.
• Perform heavy manual labor such as lifting and moving furniture and equipment.
• Perform simple maintenance on riser and seating facilities and buildings.
