Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho Council is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Specialist in Boise, ID to maintain and improve owned facilities with a broad handyman skill set.

Responsibilities include repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general trades, plus coordinating with leadership for larger projects. The role requires routine maintenance, safety awareness, ability to work independently or with a team, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Broad handyman skill set required.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other necessary equipment.
• Ability to recognize, repair and report issues to Store Managers, Director of Stores and Executive Director.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Safety minded approach to tasks.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
• Troubleshoot issues to determine repairs.
• Plan repair work using blueprints or manuals as needed.
• Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician.
• Minimize work left for contracted specialists.
• Conduct drywall/plaster repair and painting; change lights.
• Handle plumbing repairs, replacements, installation.
• Carry out carpentry repairs and installations (doors, shelves, countertops).
• Perform routine maintenance on building systems.
• Inspect and repair concrete and asphalt surfaces.
• Maintain grounds and security (fencing, gates).
• Coordinate floor cleaning schedules for all facilities.
• Support lawn and landscape care.
• Assist volunteer coordinator with managing volunteer labor.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
• Keep a clean work area daily.
