Job summary

Hyatt Regency La Jolla is seeking a Mid-Level General Maintenance Engineer to support guest rooms, meeting spaces, and public areas. You will handle routine repairs, minor mechanical/plumbing/electrical fixes, and contribute to energy management and event setups.

The role is full-time with a $27.50 hourly wage. Candidates must be U.S. workers and available across mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to maintain hotel equipment.

About the Role – General Maintenance Engineer (Mid-Level)

TheGeneral Maintenance Mid-Level Engineer will be responsible for general shift coverage including guest requests and overall hotel maintenance requests. The General Maintenance Mid-Level Engineer must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance including guest rooms, meeting space, public areas, and back of house areas.

Job Duties Include but Are Not Limited To:

• Responds to guest request calls
• Performs routine public area and guest room repairs
• Performs minor mechanical, plumbing and electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs in guest rooms
• Occasionally is required to paint, typically as a part of repairs to areas where work was performed.
• Assists engineering department and hotel through awareness and participation in energy management program
• Creates and submits purchase requisitions for approval and maintains adequate stock of tools and materials needed to perform job duties. Maintains inventory of parts and tools.
• Cleans and maintains work areas as required.
• Acts as a part of the emergency response team at the hotel, as necessary, in the event of an emergency. Responds to any trouble calls or codes (1-4) that are called.
• Assists with set up of equipment for special events
• May assist in providing direction to employees of classifications Engineer A.
• Maintains maintenance log and records.
• Flexible schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage of engineering department and ability to maintain hotel equipment.
• Should have good verbal and written communication skills
• Should have basic computer literacy
• May be required to perform other duties as required by Management.

Wage Information:

The hourly rate for this position is $27.50. This is the pay rate for this position that Hyatt Regency La Jolla reasonably expects to pay.

• Candidate must have open availability and be able to work mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays as required to ensure coverage of the engineering department and the ability to maintain hotel equipment
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills and have basic computer literacy
• Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crawl, bend, stoop, climb ladders, grasp, push/pull/lift/carry heavy loads up to 50lbs alone and up to 75lbs with assistance
