Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer I to support the Fire Technician team and oversee operation, maintenance, and management of fire alarm systems. The role includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing tasks and responsible testing of fire-rated barriers and sprinkler systems.

Applicants should have 3 years of building maintenance experience, relevant certifications, and may need a Utah driver's license.

Qualifications

Three (3) years of hands-on, building related maintenance and repair experience in one or more areas such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
At least one relevant professional trade license or certification (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) or other pre-approved certification.
Valid Utah Driver's License may be required depending on department of hire.

Responsibilities

Performs all duties of a Maintenance Engineer I.
Carpentry and door/window adjustments; patching and painting as needed.
Mechanical work: equipment readings, generators, emergency lights/batteries, pneumatic tube work.
Electrical repairs (outlets, switches, door magnets, lights).
Plumbing repairs (faucets and shower valves).
Test penetrations, fire walls and smoke compartments; test sprinkler/riser systems.
