Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Associate to perform day-to-day inspections, maintenance and repairs across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.

You will respond to emergencies, ensure safety, complete documentation, and communicate effectively with customers and staff. This role typically follows a first shift with potential overtime and 24-hour on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio driver license.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three months experience in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry or HVAC.
  • Probationary period requires demonstrated competence in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations and correct defects.
  • Assist other trades; follow safety practices; keep work areas clean and organized; document work; provide good customer service.

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Associate

Department: Administration and Planning | FOD Operations Academic District Zone 1A and 1B Maintenance

Detailed Job Description
  • Under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor, performs day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Functions include but are not limited to: daily inspections, installations, general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) and repairs.
  • Responds to emergency situations and evaluates and corrects defects.
  • Assists other trades as needed; adheres to all safety practices and procedures; cleans and maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; properly completes documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices; operates department vehicle; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Actively supports our commitment to the university value of acting with integrity and personal accountability to establish a culture of professionalism in the workplace.
  • Works primarily first shift, but shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24-hour emergency call.
Minimum Education Required

HS Graduate or Equivalent

Required Qualifications
  • Valid Ohio driver license
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three (3) months experience in basic electric, plumbing, carpentry or HVAC or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful completion of probationary period includes demonstrated competence in each of the identified technical specialties as required for this position’s level of responsibility: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R.

Additional Information: The target hiring range for this job profile is $19.75-$27.16 per hour. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
