Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seeks a Senior Facilities Engineer to perform facility condition assessments for about 1,100 buildings across the Columbus campus and eight regional sites. You will travel to sites, interview managers, score conditions, and document deficiencies in comprehensive reports.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a Professional Engineer license, and 4 years of relevant experience. Ohio PE registration is preferred.

Job Title: Senior Facilities Engineer

Department: Administration and Planning | FOD Operations Support Services

Conducts facility condition assessments for all 1,100 buildings owned by the university located on the Columbus and eight (8) Regional campuses. During assessments, the Facility Assessor will travel to the location of the building; create relationships with the building manager (s); conduct interviews with building management and staff on the condition of the building, and its systems; analyze and score the condition of building systems and structures; capture deficiencies and create reports on findings; This position will perform planning and scheduling activities related to assessment work; other duties as assigned. This position works in a multi-discipline working group, assessments are conducted individually and in teams, peer review of draft reports are conducted in working groups. This position will work closely with university partners responsible for various horizontal infrastructure systems. In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this position has been designated as a standby position.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering. Professional Engineer Licensure. 4 years of relevant experience required. Desired: Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ohio; Experience in institutional building design, dependable transportation; strong Excel skills including experience with pivot tables, what if commands, etc.; physical ability and willingness to climb outside ladders to access building roof and mechanical penthouse; work outdoors and in commercial/industrial environments; construction and facility operations experience; observation and note taking skills; experience with large building systems including boilers, chillers, steam lines, and power transmissions; strong technical writing skills; ability to work on a small team; ability to work independent.

Additional Information: The target hiring range for this job profile is $88,300 - $115,350 annually. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc. Function - Facilities, Engineering and Acquisition Sub Function - Facilities Engineering Band - Individual Contributor Level - S3 Senior Location: Maintenance Building (0078) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
