Facilities Maintenance Technician
Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the warehouse facility, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. This role performs preventative maintenance, repairs building systems and equipment, and supports daily operational needs to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of warehouse facilities, equipment, and machinery.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on conveyor systems, forklifts, dock equipment, doors, lighting, HVAC systems, and other facility assets.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building-related issues.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
- Maintain warehouse racking, shelving, and storage systems.
- Repair and replace damaged fixtures, flooring, walls, and other building components.
- Monitor and maintain facility safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and exit signs.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Keep maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory records up to date.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Assist with facility improvements, renovations, and warehouse layout modifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Support seasonal facility needs such as snow removal, landscaping, and general grounds maintenance as required.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of facilities maintenance experience, preferably in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to safely operate power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently.
Preferred
- Trade certification or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or mechanical systems.
- Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
- Experience with warehouse automation, conveyors, or industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance software (CMMS).
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Work safely around moving machinery and warehouse equipment.
